Lead Electrical Engineer

This organization is seeking a Lead Electrical Engineer to play a central role in bringing this transformative capability to flight readiness.

The Role

As Lead Electrical Engineer, you’ll be part of a small, elite team working in a high-intensity prototyping environment.

This is a hands-on position requiring both technical depth and creative agility. You’ll guide the electrical design of complex payload systems, developing, analyzing, and integrating power electronics, actuators, and control systems tailored for the space environment.

Your day-to-day will involve:

• Leading detailed electrical design and integration for space-based payload systems.
• Developing expertise across power systems, control electronics, and electromechanical actuation.
• Performing buy-versus-build analyses and advising leadership on technical risk, cost, and schedule tradeoffs.
• Coordinating with software and mechanical teams to ensure seamless end-to-end system performance.
• Supporting testing, validation, and refinement of a unique deployment platform.

You’ll be expected to thrive in ambiguity, move quickly, and contribute across disciplines to ensure success.

What You’ll Bring

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field (advanced degrees count toward experience).
• 5+ years of relevant experience in aerospace, defense, or high-performance hardware systems.
• Strong background in power electronics, electromechanical actuators, and control systems.
• Familiarity with aerospace-grade EEE components and the environmental challenges of spaceflight.
• Systems-level thinking—someone who can see both the fine details and the bigger operational picture.
• (Preferred) Experience with flight-qualified payloads or space heritage hardware.
